Senior Technical Officer – Environment
Grade 8, £38,912 to £42,107 pro-rata (inclusive of local weighting) depending on experience.
Full time - 37 hours per week.
Permanent.
Based in Hertford with the option for home working up to 50% of working hours.

What will you be doing?
• Reviewing and responding to planning and licensing applications based on your noise expertise
• Represent the council at committees and hearings using your technical knowledge
• Responding to service requests and giving appropriate advice.
• Undertake inspections, investigate complaints, prepare prosecution files and undertake project work
• You will be empowered to undertake appropriate enforcement action as necessary.
• Visit and assess venues and events using sound equipment where required
• Providing technical advice to the team and supporting the development of officers.
About you
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
• A relevant qualification or experience within the discipline applied for and a working knowledge of the legislation and regulations relating to those areas.
• The ability to deal with challenging situations using tact and discretion.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work without supervision, prioritise work to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written skills, with the ability to write schedules of work, summarise accurately and convey complex information.
